Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

The short version

Your files never leave your device. We don't collect personal data. We don't use cookies. No accounts, no logins, no data to sell.

File processing

All watermarking happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and pdf-lib. Your photos and PDFs are never uploaded to any server. No server ever sees, processes, or stores your files.

This also means there is zero risk of your images being used for AI training or any other purpose. They cannot leave your device through Watermarkd.

Local storage

Watermarkd stores a small amount of data in your browser's localStorage:

  • Theme preference (light or dark mode)
  • Watermark presets (font, size, color, opacity, position settings you choose to save)

This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data.

What Plausible measures:

  • Page views (which pages are visited)
  • Referrer (how you found us)
  • Country (derived from IP, but IP is never stored)
  • Device type and browser
  • Button clicks and general tool usage (e.g. export, watermark type)

No personal data, no image data, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking. See Plausible's data policy for details.

Cookies

Watermarkd does not set any cookies.

Third-party services

The only third-party service is Plausible Analytics (described above). No other external scripts, trackers, or services are loaded.

Where we operate

Watermarkd is built and operated from the Netherlands, within the European Union. We follow GDPR principles by design: we minimize data collection to zero personal data and process everything locally on your device.
